They’re having a 35% off liquidation sale, so get in there quickly!

Damn, all of the things I would have bought are already out of stock.

What happened?

Thanks for sharing Rich, I just ordered some glass. I’m slowly creeping up on all of the hardware to build another printer

Thanks for the notice! Just got me the glass and heater for the build plate as well as a pair of lead screws for the Z-axis. All less than $100.

I hope MakerBox and Stratasys get banned from the US Patent office and TrinityLabs opens back up. I imagine it must be their mischief that caused TrinityLabs to shut down.

@NathanielStenzel Nope. Unless I’m completely out of the loop, Trinitylabs have had a slew of support, logistics, quality and internal issues that have likely contributed to their closure. A classic example of why creative maker types don’t often make good business owners.

Well, here is hoping that if they try opening up again that they get some good tips from some successful business owners.

Ezra claimed he had many very successful software/web companies. But selling hardware is different. Sending a fix is simple for software products but difficult for hardware products.

I agree, being a maker certainly doesn’t qualify anyone to run a business. Creating a long lasting business plan in this very evolutionary new field is a huge risk. Makers like to take all risks as a challenge in my experience, as opposed to caution. Not to mention the cut-throat nature of capitalism can make you lose money to make people happy. People will always take advantage of you, it’s human nature so don’t take it personally.

My best piece of advice is to not repeat the steps of other businesses and try to carve out a niche for yourself.

I could have gone down the route of purely manufacturing, competing against hundreds of other printer designs. Or I could have put my printing service online and compete with thousands of other makers out there. Yet why reinvent the wheel when there is opportunity elsewhere?

This is why I went into education of 3D printing. A lot more people want to learn and many take for granted that Google searching and diving through forums (really the internet in general) is easy for everyone. Most people would rather pay then and I don’t blame them for that.

My post today about Bob, the 70+ year old veteran who has trouble using a computer paid for all our services (modeling, printing and delivery) as he’s incapable to do it himself. I won’t be selling a printer to him but I’ve already made the profit I would have if he had bought one.

New markets people, tap them new markets!

Good riddance

The only way a 3D printing store is going to last this day and age is if they’re doing custom machine work. E3D is doing well, Reifsnyderb’s business selling J-heads is doing well. You can’t just be a reseller and try to take off the top of cheap chinese shit. You’ve gotta provide a quality product of your own.

So, future kapton stick-on heated bed suppliers anyone? It’s about the only thing I’ve really needed to buy direct from them in the past.

'eh, use silicone heater pads from chinese makers on aliexpress. They’ll even make them custom dimensions, resistances, etc.

I looked but the prices are still too high even at 35% off. i would like the large kapton heater though  my home made 12"x12" nichrome based one is a bit of a boondoggle

@ThantiK I’ve never found them to be anywhere near as efficient for some reason (usually about 3/4 as effective, so I need more wattage to get the same heat).

Sweet (I mean, bummer for them off course…), finally ordered a sheet of boro. Any advice on how best to cut it? Thanks!

Thank you, I got some hobbed pulley’s in cool gun metal, I think trinity labs down fall was the Aluminatus, I heard it was really noisy and it was constantly breaking down.

Anyone see confirmation of shipment yet? I am getting a little worried since the site is now just a splash page and I have no confirmation except my initial email about my order.
