Troubles with LW4.
I am running windows 7 home premium, quad core, 8gb ram etc.
When I first installed LW4 I was able to get a few projects to work in it, even though it was slow and hung up a lot. Now when trying to open a project it hangs every time using about 25% CPU and 300MB Ram. It will stay at that until you force close the program.
I have tried reinstalling it, running as Administrator etc. What else can I try, or is there a known compatibility issue?

Otherwise seems like a nice program, I like the available options!
Thanks

Running the latest build?

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty version LW 4.0.989

Try getting the latest build so we can troubleshoot this

Also how intricate are your files? LW tends to choke on many tiny lines

Do you have a 4 core cpu? Getting stuck at 25% seems to indicate a single thread consuming the entire core…

I’ve downloaded the latest build, it runs very similar. I was able to load a file after about 10 minutes, and generate a laser cut path which took almost 7 minutes. The file doesn’t appear to be that intricate, In inkscape it doesn’t show tons of points like some files. Its was just two words, outline cut.
@CescoAiel That could be, it doesn’t bog down the rest of the computer, just the program is apparently maxed out for process, and seems to be mainly one core in task manager. Is there any way for it to thread on more cores or use the graphics card for the processing? @Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty

Try increasing gcode generation threads

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty Ok, I changed it to 4 threads, it didn’t appear to make any difference. In task manager there is one laserweb.exe that used up to 40% cpu, and 2 other laserweb.exe that show 0% use. The file still took 8 minutes to create a path. Most of the time its just stuck at 25% on the main process.

So there was and improovent ?

No, not that I can tell. At least the latest build is doing something, although super slow.

Have you tried verifying if http://you.have many small paths?

@Jorge_Robles does the thread change need to reflect on the task manager?

Of course more threads will consume more resources.

@Ariel_Yahni_UniKpty this is the svg file I have been trying for the tests.

I don’t think it has super short paths.

There defenetly something with this file that i cannot fix.

Ok, what file types do you recommend? how can I best create files for this program?

I think you have to open with a graphic edito to check errors (inkscape or ai)

It looked fine to me in inkscape, how would you check it?

It does look fine and only contians 452 nodes
