Trying another filament, with good result.

Bought this filament from 3DRax, mostly as I liked the color. Never heard of the brand, before, and at ~$19 per 1Kg spool (through Amazon Prime), fully expected some shortcomings.

Just ran through a spool of Matterhackers Pro PLA (~$45). As Matterhackers is about a mile from my front door, was - just a bit - hoping their filament was better. Admittedly I am a newcomer to 3D printing … but for my use, this cheap filament is better.

(Carving out a possible use-case. The Matterhackers filament seems softer. If I were making movie or cosplay props, and were going to heavily sand and paint before done, this might be an advantage. I am not aimed in that direction.)

I very much like the color.

I would trry Makergeeks they have deals and its good stuff. Their Raptor PLA is super strong.

I’ve been loving Prima PLA at £15/kg - I’ve been getting better results than others at twice the price. It is of course possible that I’ve stumbled upon the sweet spot printing attributes for the Prima, and not the others yet, but since it’s cheap, works well, and is one of the few ranges to do the main colour I want (really dark grey) I’m very happy with it.
