Trying PLA + Glue stick + glass again and this time things are looking pretty good. One question though, when it’s done what’s the best way to get it off the glass?

Let cool and it should pop off if not I use a razor to break the seal

Paint scraper after the glass is cooled. Tap the end of the scraper lightly with a wrench if it’s not lifting easily.

Use a light coating of glue. If it builds up too thick then it’ll be hell to pry parts off. After a couple of prints I spray the bed with water and smear the glue around. After a couple of wipe downs I lay down more glue stick. If you use the purple stuff then you can tell it’s too weak when it no longer turns purple when wetted.

Cool  I’m not using any heat on the bed, but I’ll give it a few minutes once it’s done to make sure everything is cool and see what happens.

I may have gotten overzealous with the glue, the last time I tried it I couldn’t get it to stick so I got more aggressive this time around.

I figure the glue is water-soluble, so if it’s really stuck maybe I can soak the whole mess in some water to loosen it up?

Does that “wear out” @Nick_Kloski2 ?

@Jason_Gullickson you can print cold if you like. I use 55C for PLA because it seems to help a little with warping on large parts.

Soaking it in cold water helps if it gets stuck hard. Be careful prying parts off of wet gluey glass. I’ve sliced my knuckles open bad a couple of times because I was too impatient to let the water loosen it.

Cricut spatula is my weapon of choice. It’s for paper craft, but works great lifting the edges of prints

I don’t use anything on PLA just straight glass at 60c

here is my two cents worth on the subject,
i found using a plate of thin glass, just like you got there, but i rub a glue stick, like for kids papaer projects onto the glass andthen laydown a piece of single layer tissue paper(super cheap toilet paper works best), the parts stick nice to the paper and peel right off the paper i reduce the bed temp after about several layers and it seens to help with worpage., and when you need to replace the paper just rinse the glass under the kitchen sick and it all melts right off ,dry and reinstall a new piece…

PLA on hot glass has never let me down.

Fortunately it popped right off with little effort! I did a few more prints, and the worst that happened was needing the spatula (+1 for the Cricut spatula).

Another neat side-effect I noticed is that if you build up too much glue and your head isn’t perfectly tram (mine isn’t :), instead of ripping up the tape the glue just gets pushed aside, much more pleasant!
