Trying to print at 0.01mm (10 microns) layer height on my lego-RepRap!! (The little marvin robot on the right is at 0.2mm.)

Can your hardware (steppers and Z screw(s)) handle that resolution? i.e.: Is one step on Z an even division of 0.02mm? If not, I’m sure the firmware will make a mess of it.

@Carlton_Dodd I really don’t know… I was wondering the same thing but it is turning out ok so far!

@Adrian_Ciubotariu No I don’t need such fine resolution, I just wanted to experiment a bit! I’m not sure how much more I can improve the printer, I still need to replace some of the original parts and improve cooling a bit but apart from that…

For that resolution printer has to be calibrated 100%. I had few 0.02 mm prints, but il last tooooo long to finish…

Awesome dude

@Kristijan_kolak Yea, I think this one thing will take over 6hours!!

@Adrian_Ciubotariu I might do that soon! The only problem is I will need to use parts from this one for the new one…

Cool have too make me something I’ll pay for it

@Adrian_Ciubotariu Yea! :wink:

@Wazir_Salaam I’m sure you could find better printing services than me lol! But honestly I have submitted it to http://3dhubs.com, I’m hoping to earn a bit of money for futur projects and filament!

Your print at 200 has a lot of problems. You need to go to 300 and then look at fixing things. Going finer when not doing well at a given level increases the errors.

At 300 this item should look very smooth with horizontal lines. Let us see that.

@Gary_Deen Yes, it is because of the bed, it’s moving a bit but I’m not sure how to fix it yet… I will have a go at 300 after this has finished!

Tighten that belt if in the y axis or the stepper gear or bed plate screws. Replace linear bearings or stiffen y plate if in z axis. Replace bearings or tighten screws if x axis.

@Gary_Deen The fact is, it’s a design flaw! My z axis has never been that good, I need to redesign it but it’s harder than it first seems… You see, the build plate moves only one the threaded rod! No linear bearings to guide it so it “wobbles” when the motors turn! It should be easier to redesign now though as the printer is mostly working I can print quite precise parts…

I say… Get a 1mm nozzle and print the best single layer prints anyone has ever seen! (just kidding)

I understand then. there is no guide on Z… Just “Lift and Pray.”

I installed a .3 nozzle on my crap K800 Chinese delta and the print is borderline amazing. Layer height was .060

@seb_seb Hate to break it to you, but I am pretty sure 0.1 mm is 100 microns

Oh… Oops
