That’s beyond creepy

First thing that came to my mind when I saw that photo: “I need an adult!”

Is it available for android too?

no but you can take photo with android phone and use visual sfm  for make 3d.

Yeah I don’t know how it works, but by the look on the kids face, it’s uncomfortable

Just tried it
It works but it’s all in the setup

Take crappy shots and you get crappy results

Take good shots and you get slightly better than crappy results

None of which I would want to print.

I have tried this with a camera and never did get a 1/2 way reasonable 3D model. Even after shooting 50 pictures to input into 123D Catch. It seems to require constant lighting from all angles among other things that i haven’t figured out. Looks easy on the demo video.

In a few years this sort of stuff will be refined.

It’s pretty cool though!

MakerBot just released their 3d scanner for 1400, a cam and turret combo

I try a couple of times with about 40 photo each time. My idea is to maintain camera fixed and rotate the subject but this seems not working, probably the algoritm rely on fixed lights and shadows on the subject respect a fixed spotlight (for example, the sun) I need to retry in different way: fixed subject, rotating camera.

Stefano try visualsfm for photo and turntable

Thanks @Mauro_Manco , I will try. A friend of mine absolutely wants a bust of itself

This reminded me of Victorian era photographs where everyone is so stern and serious looking. Exposure times where in the 10’s of seconds and you can’t hold a smile for that long.

how long for an ios7 compatible version?

I’m on i0S7
It works however you need to close the app when it gets stuck and restart it.
The app will continue on and eventually you will get to the final model
