Two things;

First, the J-Head MK-V(B?) that I got from Makerfarm over 2 years ago has worked great with very few issues over that time. Only recently did I come across serious clogging issues (see the gunk in the first picture) that necessitated the very first tear down I have ever had to do on it.

Second, when taking apart an old J-Head, grip the top housing near the heater block (I used pliers to hold onto the upper portion) because you risk cracking the now brittle plastic. I tried to hold it together with a bunch of layers of Kapton however it just wasn’t enough to handle the pressure.

Good news though, I’m ordering my E3D V6 right now :slight_smile: but I think I’ll try to get a new barrel too so I have a backup. Anyone know where I can get a V5 PEEK nozzle holder?

Shame too since I finally just got the PID settings just right so I only get about a 4 degree swing :(… literally, tonight.

But hey! No fire!

Ahh but it looks like it lasted you well. Fortunately hotends are no longer super expensive.

“But hey! No fire!” The classic Maker optimism statement. Perfect.

No fire is always good

Fire… Bad!!!
