Thanks for sharing! I’ve come accross with ‘rack and pinion’ before and was never sure what it meant exactly. A dictionary is not much help there…

I remember how it shocked me coming across a Japanese-English dictionary, with all words represented with drawings. I have to agree that for some concepts a drawing is a much better option.

Yes, @jaime_solis that’s why I re-shared it (esp. for non native english speakers). @Alex_Wiebe it was only a quick reshare but you are right. BTW I realized that the planetary gear is misleading as it does not feature the inside gear (aka sun gear). As shown, it is barely only an inside spur gear. “Planetary” is not well explained, is not clear that at least one gear axis is not fixed, but revolving around another gear axis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epicyclic_gearing
