Has anybody ordered and received a Smoothieboard from Uberclock recentrly?
I ordered one online and payed international shipping about 2 weeks ago, I got an order confirmation and that’s it… Cant seem to get a response from mark@uberclock.com as to shipping information etc
I’m getting quite desperate for a controller for my printer and was hoping the Smoothieboard was going to be my savoir.
I’ve given up on Uberclock as I’ve emailed asking about the glcd adapter every week for 6 weeks with no response. Before that, I emailed for three weeks trying to buy a Smoothieboard before giving up and buying one from an individual who had an extra. Save yourself some trouble and buy from Robotseed.
We will be needing 75 Smoothies and 75 glcd boards and adapters in the next 8 weeks. If we have issues sourcing them from Robotseed, we will be having them made ourselves and will have plenty of extras. Please note we would much rather buy them and support the originators, but we will not suffer poor vendors having done that before in the hopes they will improve. They seldom do.
So Robotseed are legit? I might just take your advise… the best part is that Uberclock have my 200nzd (exchange rate is a killer at the moment), I had grown quite fond of the money before I handed it over. lol
Uberclock has had some problems recently, they are working on fixing those, and should be back on track soon.
You can order at Robotseed in the mean-time if you want.
Robotseed is totally legit, when I couldn’t get any response from Uberclock, Arthur helped me out and got me taken care of. I hope things are okay with Uberclock and that you get your money back, Nelson.
I just received my order… well partial order… of a voltage regulator and usb cable and all I got was the regulator. I have e-mailed and called all with no response. Not sure what is going on but what ever it is its not good for business.
To provide other potential buyers with a warm fuzzy I ordered mine on the 22nd of December and it was shipped on the 23rd with an expected delivery date of 28 December. Not too bad considering the Christmas holidays. BTW, this order was for a Smoothieboard 5xC.
Problems are understandable. Every business has them. Refusing to communicate with customers is just asking for those customers to believe a vendor is duplicitous at best, fraudulent at worst. Successful companies are up front about their problems and their customers are willing to work with them.
I received my smoothieboard from Uberclock a week ago and it came without the SD card. I haven’t received a response from them yet on getting the SD card. Is there a SD card image that I can download on one of my SD cards so I can start using the board?
Despite my initial misgivings about Uberclock’s communication I ordered an adapter board and GLCD from them when they became available via their website. It arrived Saturday. I have to say, the packaging was fantastic! Parts were wrapped in bubble wrap and then placed into a snap lid plastic box. Very sturdy and even the gorillas handling packages at the USPS couldn’t have damaged it. I contrast this with the boards I got from England which were shipped in a plain paper envelope with no protective padding that arrived in a hundred pieces which the USPS gathered up and placed in a plastic baggy after they were absolutely destroyed enroute. On top of that, Uberclock’s boards were a newer version with a jumper pin for Smoothieboard version selection versus the bare solder pads on Robotseed’s boards. I am more than happy to recommend Uberclock and will use them in the future.
RobotSeed and Uberclock’s versions of the adapters were actually designed separately at about the same moment They only have minor differences, indeed actual jumpers are nicer than solder pads.
My last update. As mentioned above, my first order from Robotseed was destroyed in shipping. Yesterday I received my replacements and I have to give an “ata-boy” to Robotseed. This time the adapter boards were surrounded by packing material, sandwiched by cardboard and placed in a padded envelope. They arrived unscathed and in a timely manner. Fair is fair. If I make a complaint it’s only right that I follow up when the situation is made right. Robotseed did that and certainly have earned my respect.
I’ve been having nothing but issues so far with Uberclock. I ordered my in-stock board on the 2nd… it finally shipped on the 7th, and now it’s somehow stuck in Tokyo, Japan for the past week. I mean, Japan is a little off course from Canada, especially since it left from Idaho.
No return communication with Uberclock via email or phone after several emails and phone calls to them. I’ve filed a dispute with Paypal, this is the worst customer service I’ve ever had in my life.
I understand they’re not responsible for USPS sending it to Japan, but it would be nice to know they’re involved in a resolution… rather than being completely non-responsive. The fact that their phone number alternates between non-functional (most of the time) and occasionally a full voice mail box is disturbing.
At this point, I don’t know if my board is ever going to arrive since it hasn’t moved in a week from it’s unknown location in Japan.
