This is what’s holding up my Printrbot + upgrade – I am waiting to dye the wood parts!
Yeah, I jumped into the paint possibly too fast. I had 2 Acrylic Latex samples made at Lowes then watered them down 2 parts paint to 1 part water so the wood grain would still show through and it does; just not as much as I originally anticipated.
Why bother removing the parts from the board ? (unless you want to paint the sides)
@CornGolem , I wanted to clean the laser char off (so there is no chance of smearing on wood) and they tape the parts into the board to keep them together in transit; as soon as you remove the tape (needed to paint both sides) they all fall out anyways.
Painting before cutting could look so cool (I like the laser char).
@Bracken_Dawson , I so wish I had a laser engraver… I am not painting the sides of each piece, just top/bottom. I was kinda thinking about taking a black sharpie and inking all sides to give it that cell-shaded look…
I would never be able to wait that long. I want to print… 
Yeah, I’m still running my TOM while painting off hours. I am very ready to get a break from work so I can knock the rest out. I just remember looking at my TOM and trying to decide on taking it out of production to paint or not… That never happened…
