Unless I’m overlooking this in S3D, I really wish you could also set the pattern density for support structures instead of having to manually remove them. I like to typically space them out by a few mm knowing I can easily bridge that. I didn’t see anything under the support tab within the machine settings.

I was trying to reduce the filament usage and more importantly the print time, but it looks like there’s essentially no change to the print time.

Have you tried adjusting them with Customize Support Structures under the S3D Tools menu?

@Pete_Johnson , yes, these were created using that tool.

Pretty sure a solid “block” of support area with a lower support density will use less time and filament than the checkerboard here. For these individual pillars to not fall over, they will need to be higher density than a larger support area printed in the usual zig-zag pattern.

Frankly, if you use the dense support option on the last few layers, you could get away with an extremely low support density.

I use 10-15‰ support density with 2 dense layers of 70%
