unrelated fastled question.

I know that a lot of people here buy in alixpress or alibaba. It is my first time buying there and I am in conversation with a dealer for a quite big order, and he proposed me to pay via bank transfer to their bank. is this safe?

@Leo_Bettinelli aliexpress has a good customer safety system much like ebay. I would never do a direct to bank payment unless i dealt with them often

the risk is that after you complete a bank transfer there is no way to get your money back should there be a problem. It’s basically like giving them cash. After it leaves you bank account it is gone for good, where as using a credit card you can file a charge back.

bank transfers are the prefered payment method of scammers.

Dig through the Alibaba website for details about Trade assurance. They actually request bank transfers but the receiving account has to be approved by Alibaba !!
Like eBay, they are very careful about their image just go through the protected Alibaba methods of payments.

Forgot to mention that this ‘Trade assurance’ thing is actually free !!!

thank you very much guys!

I’ve done many orders through Aliexpress and never came across that request, maybe delayed payment to specialize order, but never paid out outside of registered credit card paying Aliexpress only who then forwards the money after confirmation of goods received.

I saw now that they ask me to do a T/T transfer, which I found that refers to this: http://service.alibaba.com/buyer/faq_detail/10609426.htm

I suppose this makes much more sense…
