Up to date (Jan 2016 ) info on how to get photon and fastled to work together?

I have spent about 5 hours today on http://particle.io, http://fastled.io, and google trying to work out how to get these to work and have reached the end of my noose!

Does FastLED really work with the photon, or is it still in a VERY Alpha state? It sounds like it gets patched and it works for a while, then something changes and it is broken again. I know Particle is still not really in a production ready state. ( poor documentation, constant changes, etc… ).

I downloaded the “offline” dev ide and the fastled-master from github and tried every way I could think of to build the demoreel100.ino project but got error after error. Ranging from files not found to looking for avr files.

I am trying to build the latest version of fastled against the latest verison of the photon firmware.

It wold really be nice to get an up to day rundown on how to install and build the demoreel100.ino sample. Including where to put what files and what directory structure to use.

YouTube habe to Set the Version of fastled correctly. when selecting the library there is a category where you can select a newer build

Did you manage to get hold on any “tutorial” on how to set up the particle ide with fastled?
Managed to get a led to lit via the include library but would be nice to know how to add “user” library for later builds.
