I spoke to a woman from this company at. Makercon. They aren’t building a zero-G printer, they’re building a printer that’s sure to survive the launch, and tuning it for zero-G.
They need a custom machine like this to make absolutely sure it’ll make it up undamaged. Launching an ultimaker that has a 20% chance of being damaged in an experiment ending way would be gambling a huge opportunity cost on the launch.
