So I’ve connected my VBB power to a 12V power supply (reading 12.4V steady on my meter). I’ve checked the board contacts and they are also reading 12V.
I’ve probed around the board to see where I’m reading 12V. Two things are immediately obvious:
- The VBB light on the board is not on
- All 4 pins on each of the 5 stepper ports is reading 12V. This seams odd, but I may be misunderstanding how it’s intended to be setup, and I’m only reading voltage, so may be missing an underlying signal.
USB power is working properly. Lights for USB are blinking/steady as expected, and I can connect to the board through a Serial Terminal, and the Pronterface app. I am able to send commands to the USB and receive responses.
Also noting that I have been through the Q&A documentation on the site, but when you get to the part about the VBB light not being on the documentation is not there. The page is blank and has default text.
Another note, I did have the 5V Reg soldered in place initially. It was a RECOM R-78E5.0-0.5. It has been removed from the board to eliminate variables.
Please help, I would really love to get up and running on the Smoothieboard. It seems to be the right controller, if I can get it to work.
Thanks
- Jocko
