Venus de milo, took 70 hours to print, 40cm, printed in one piece on modified printrbot simple 2014, the printing head jammed twice, had to drill it, repetier crashed once. I managed to restart the print without much visible artifacts.
Wow, impressive seeing such tall prints from a printrbot simple. Has quality suffered any from the height mods?
As you get higher and move the head in Y direction it wobbles in X direction and also Z little bit. To mitigate this problem I print at a slower speed. As I get higher I decrease the speed to 50%, 25%. I also print infill first, then perimeters. Woobly infill doesn’t matter and by the time it starts printing perimeters the head stops wobbling. Doing this there is no quality loss.
Nice, I really like the idea of gradually slowing down to compensate. I guess it could help on more moderate prints as well. My Prusa i3 has OK stability but it’s not great
