Very happy with how this turned out. Heat set inserts in PLA work really well!
May I ask what it’s for?
It’s an elbow joint for a SCARA arm. The arm moves a magnet that drags a ball bearing through a tray of sand, drawing patterns.
More generally, I tried to design this component standalone, so it’s just a 48 tooth T10 metric pulley with bearing.
Which inserts did you use? What size are they?
They’re M3, 4mm hole diameter. I got mine from Tappex in the UK, but in the US McMaster Carr stock similar parts.
Cool but not sure about using PLA for a mechanical component. Fluency makes the parts loose over time.
