Video of the sliding carriages movement and MiltyKoss print quality. So happy this is way better than I thought it would turn out. 2 months ago I was thinking ‘hmmm, maybe I should build a DIY Delta…’ knowing NOTHING about building a printer from scratch, and now this is my new DIY printer. YAY!

I got the same z sensor laying for my delta build, do you like it?

@Michael_Andresen LOVE IT! But as with any sensor how it works, is how it works. With this one you cannot run auto calibration with an uneven bed surface or it will think your machine frame is twisted. Gaps in tap at the wrong spot will make the sensor read the offset of the tape as a frame alignment issue. I used just a bit of tape at the center on my cartesian manual calibration i3, with this sensor I have to fully cover the bed and do so fairly carefully.

Turning the glass helps if a reading is at a seam between the tape. it’s insanely accurate, .05mm totally matters to this sensor. It’s amazingly light, weight is in the wires to connect it. Compared to an inductive heavy brick of a sensor its like it was actually made this century. Cannot recommend it enough.

Auto calibration on a Duet with this? its like ‘wtf how can this actually be that easy? is something wrong? seems like this should be harder…’ but its not! dc42 is really good at this whole ‘technology’ thing…

@Alex_Skoruppa THANKS! I am full of grins today! The wiring is still in commissioning stage. I have not finalized the wire pathing or extruder location so I am using twist ties to change things easily. it will all be in 1/4" white cable mesh for this build. Next is in orange and black and will have black or orange cable mesh. More strain relief is one of the things still on the design list.

I am running a Duet 0.8.5, and it is amazing! Completely happy with it. The network uploading of Gcode files to print is super fast, the auto calibration is ridiculously easy. I feel like I am cheating using it, compared to my i3 8-bit controller.

@Alex_Skoruppa I want to try smoothie on my next, just to know, but the duet is so good I might regret it. Might just get a duet wifi, but I do like to try new things…

File transfer seems fast but I will make a note of the actual speed and let you know.

Side note, funny what having the motors arranged counterclockwise instead of clockwise does… why is everything perfectly aligned, but mirror image of itself? DOH! LOL all the letters are backward on the first benchy! Fixed now though.
