And in Wall-E’s colors, too. I approve.
When can we have the stl files so we can build one??? PLEASE
@Auzze_Auzze Some files are on the forum. I will be putting the release together this week now that I have some time. Getting two experimental bots to NYC is all I have been able to do for the last month.
What type of extruder drive are you using??
It looks like a Bowden extruder of some sort.
Looks extremelly compact and simple, has anyone seen any data about the extruder, would like to make one.
Clearly an Ubis hot end from Printrbot, at least.
The filament drive is a modified QU-BD MBE with a TrinityLabs hobbed pulley. It works but I want something better.
@Nicholas_Seward what do you mean better?
You obviously know this drive, so can you share what are its capability shortfalls and what can be improved when compared to a normal v2 ultimaker extruder drive? Thanks in advance.
@Paulo_Geraldes There are three main problems. 1) With the added friction from the bowden tube the nongeared filament drive is right on the edge. I had to run the stepper and the hot end on the hot side so it would work. 2) The small diameter hobbed pulley is on the verge of not having enough grip. Actually, it can grip enough but when it does it deforms the filament which adds friction in the bowden tube or worse yet causes a jam. 3) There is a polished set screw for adjusting the filament engagement. I think a spring loaded setup would require less attention.
I see, adding a bit of gearing would help a lot especially on the ultimaker type of extruder where there is more friction. Thanks @Nicholas_Seward .
