Wanted to ask opinions on estlcam software. Has anyone used this? I have mainly used JSCut which is really simple but also limited. I recently wanted to V-carve a gift for a friend but JSCut is having issues producing a working Gcode for this. I also tried F-engrave and it gave me problems as well plus is very limited.
Estlcam is not free but at $50 it is way cheaper than Meshcam @ $250 or some of the other programs that are even pricier! It’s has a free trial period and I’m testing it out now. So far I’m pretty impressed with it especially for the price but I wanted to ask the group here if anyone has used it and what they thought about it? I never even heard about it until yesterday and I thought I’ve done some pretty detailed searches on cam software so it surprised me that I hadn’t heard of this before.
I’ve been using http://millcrum.com for a little while – not sure how it would support engraving tho, I haven’t tried. Been quite happy with the toolpaths it makes tho.
Hmm yes I just recently looked at millcrum but haven’t tried it yet. Thanks for the feedback though, I’m a bit more curious about it now.
Fusion360 supports v carving now and is free
Thanks, I have fusion 360 and it seems a bit more difficult to learn than some other software. I will say it also seems very capable although I had trouble finding the right format to export my Gcode in and couldn’t get it to work in chilipeppr, granted I only tried once.
In the post processors there should be a grbl option. That would likely be the one your after.
Thanks @Joe_Spanier I’ll give it another try!
