Was at Maker Faire today and saw a new (shown for the first time) 3D printer being shown off. For the $800 price the print quality is pretty amazing (imo)! The quality was good enough to print (without post processing) threaded lids that had a screw action that felt molded. These prints were some of the best I have seen from a machine this inexpensive. It is based off of RepRap and they say it will be open source when they start selling it, along with being expandable.
