Was going to stay silent til I was finished, but hey, I couldn’t help myself. Have to finish the bed platform, my custom nichrome heated bed (with 12x12 1/8in alu), install my xy rods and carriage, rgb remote controlled led strips, calibrate and print. Almost there. Can’t wait to start the first print.
Please forgive the odd angled pictures they were trying to show the power port and switch. Soon to be added are a 5v usb charging port and an easy access usb programming port in the front.
I like the 3 lbs hammer laying there, you know for the delicate work. hehe
Really tho, your Z is looking awesome as well as the rest of it.
I forged that hammer with master blacksmith @Brian_Brazeal we made 2 that day. Love smithing it’s my main hobby
That’s cool.
Excellent! So much tidier than Ingentis
I think I have to resign myself to never having a bot that looks finished. Looking forward to seeing it in daylight.
Yeah sorry about the lowlight
@Wayne_Friedt Thanks I’ve been working hard. The z is going to be spectra driven and I have guitar tuners (worm gears) for x and y ends as well as on my bed platform ends. I call them bluebirds you’ll see why when I send the pics of the bed platform
@Tim_Rastall Thanks I was inspired by you. I saw the tantillus and ultimaker. Started reading up which led to goopyplastic in reprap forum and the were your renderings. I decided then your design was the closest I’ve seen to what I wanted to build. Then when I reach out you did what you didn’t have to. You shared files and released early, and helped me out. I’ve modified heavily and most parts I redesigned and built from scratch and went with goopyplastic corners. But I would have never done it had it not been for you. Thanks man!
Wow, very nice looking all packaged up. I totally dig the blue windows. Is your bed platform plastic? Or are you putting insulation between it and the heated bed? Looking forward to seeing it print.
The plate is 1/8in mill finished alu courtesy of eBay. With 4 18 ga nichrome elements wired in series with 12ga copper braided wire stripped and naked butt end connectors. Then either cardboard and foil insulation or wool or kaowool. The base probably plywood mounted on 2 x 1/16 thick alu angle attached to my bluebirds with 3 point leveling
I am interested in seeing some pics of your build platform when you get to that point.
With your Z using the worm drive, does that eliminate the Z wanting to fall when not powered?
Sorry about that last comment. I see my answer in another post of yours.
No prob. If it isn’t listed in the same conversation I don’t consider it a stupid question
