We just joined the group and was saying Hi . Had my shout out post deleted. Apologies if we infringed something to cause that. As product designers we are genuinely interested in the group :s
We have over 38000 members. If everyone wrote a new post to introduce themselves, it would bury all of the relevant content.
It was probably the explicit reference to your g+ page that did it. You’ll probably get a lot of interest in your page if you share photos or information about interesting things you’ve designed for or with 3D printers.
Hey were new here so I guess new rules apply in G+. As a firm we dont have an in-house Printer yet. Our resources include large SLS and SLA printers, hardly any Objet, and plenty of high accuracy CNC work. Were watching the space to see whats emerging . we were quite keen on the Formlabs, untill they were sued. Noticed this article today on Solidsmack http://solidsmack.com/fabrication/zortrax-m200-the-new-plug-print-3d-printer-to-make-3d-printing-awesome/ WIll be asking the group for their input and hope to contribute where we can. But were noobs when it comes to these self builds. In fact were 8 miles from where the Rep Rap was born in Bath Uni and 6 Miles from http://www.bitsfrombytes.com/ who commercialised RepRap
Formlabs settled with 3DS and are releasing their printer on time. 3DS patents are about to expire, so if you were interested in them before, there’s no reason not to still be interested.
http://makerjuice.com/ is even coming up with some cheap resins.
@ThantiK Do you know if that includes the powder deposition patents?
@Tim_Rastall afaik, Zcorp holds the relevant patents for powder printers.
@Thomas_Sanladerer ah, cheers.
Thanks thats useful. I did’nt realise they had settled. Imagine having to put that in the KS pitch. $$$ on a legal battle. Is there a group consensus on resin or extruder being better. I know the first comment there is depends what your using it for. Lets say quick design development validation. I guess someone has done a pros and cons list?
