Well, finally got the Mega MendelMax moving a little. It’s not much at the moment, but I had to get the Sells back up and running to print out a new Y idler. Once that was installed, it was just a matter of hooking up the wires and seeing how it worked. I got a cursory tune done on the PID; I’ll do more with my oscilloscope later.

This is a scaled-up MendelMax. It has an 18x18" bed, and the Y axis is driven by a DC servo (hence the huge torodial transformer).

Tomorrow i’ll be working on getting the X axis working, and then I’ll begin building up the wiring for it.

I thought about going with a bed that size but the energy requirements scared me off. Are you heating that with 120V?

Yeah. 1080w heater, 110v controlled by an SSR
