Well had a few hours to play around with my new PrintrBot + and things are going pretty good.

Made a mess of the Z Axis sensor when trying to fine tune it, so for a while it either tried to gouge the bed or started in the air, but I was able to fine tune it and my last print (Superman Shield) had a really nice finish, top, bottom and sides.

The clear PLA shows the messy insides though, but the outside was nice.

Lot’s to learn and lots of testing and printing over this coming weekend, can’t wait!

Such a nice printer. I’m getting a little jealous I didn’t get a + and rather a Simple Metal. Printrbot’s clear PLA is also my favorite material. I’d buy more if they sold it in 1kg or if shipping wasn’t so ridiculously expensive.

I need to get me some clear pla. Great looking printer as always. And you would be amazed at how much of difference the first layer makes on print quality

@Griffin_Paquette Lemme know what you end up buying once you test it. My 3DSolutech clear PLA tends to jam occasionally and isn’t as clear.

@Adam_Steinmark I might try to see what the local microcenter has. I have no idea if they have clear. Last time I checked Printrbot used toner plastics as their filament supplier so there shouldn’t be a change there. I’ll keep you posted.

@Griffin_Paquette Toner plastics? Wow I didn’t realize they were so widespread. I’ve been meaning to pick up some filament at Micro Center but I never have the time (or money but that’s an entirely separate issue).

Sorry to hijack this post. Printrbot Plus looks incredibly beautiful. Happy printing

@Adam_Steinmark yeah it’s such cheap filament and even the cheap $15 a kg prints excellently for me. Toner is only 19 a kg.

Sorry for the hijack but might help for filament!

@Griffin_Paquette the new blend Printrbot is using from Toner Plastics does not print nearly as transparently as the sample that came with my printer
