Well…

I discovered MIT’s App Inventor before I learned java…

Bad idea…

I’ve got a standalone, fixed installation that I’d like to have control over so I decided to make an app to control fastLED/Arduino via Bluetooth serial (Arduino+ HC05)

I’ve gotten most of the HSV sender page done and I’ll be adding string support for sending user configurable modes once I decide on a protocol.

The RGB values are functional, albeit strange. It pulls the color information from the pixel itself rather than the HSV function which is computed mathematically.

I will be sharing the app via GP when all is said and done and I’d love to hear if there’s anything that a fastLED user would be interested in seeing.

Cheers!

I’ve been looking for a tanker plugin that can send data via Bluetooth serial. I’ve heard it’s easy to do, unfortunately my android programming skills are near non-existent. The last time I worked with Java was in 2001, so totally outdated :-).

Would be great if you can publish a tasker plugin for this.

I will see if there’s a way to accept an input on opening or how to pass values to my app.

I don’t recall seeing it in the documentation but I may have missed something worth looking into; the App Inventor is certainly lacking in regards to abilities of a high level language but that’s the price for simplicity and ease of use.

In the meanwhile, I did find this thread that may point you in the right direction; the posts are focused on android/'duino interaction and even has some example code that could be quickly ported to fast led. It’s a SL4A script, not a app so unless you wanted a custom command every time it should work. Else, it may take some figuring how to pass specific parameters from tasker to the script itself in order to achieve what you’re looking for.

(would be prudent to attach the link…)

I did indeed find that it is possible to pass values/initialize an app created in AI2 from tasker. I’m assuming that most tasker apps have the same command structure so it just may be doable!
