Well I finally bit the bullet and ordered a Printrbot Play 3D printer from Amazon. It arrives Friday. I’m still looking at getting a Lulzbot Taz 5 in the future but I need to figure out what to do for an enclosure especially with the cats and also for fumes. The Play will give me a chance to play and learn until then.
You will enjoy it. Btw the learning curve with a printrbot is much less than a lulz bot. You have fewer settings and tweeting to do. A smaller print volume means less issues with flatness, lash, wobble, and leveling issues. Starting with a small printer is a good idea.
@Camerin_hahn actually with cura lulzbot edition, the taz 5 prints great out of the box. The pei makes it really easy for the material to adhere. Although if you are waiting for a taz, get the taz 6 when it’s released.
Sliding bed machines are sub-optimal for enclosing. If you can, look for a machine with a totally external frame.
@Justin_Nesselrotte does the taz have auto level?
@Camerin_hahn version 6 will.
@Justin_Nesselrotte that will make it better, but I do love my printrbot.
And I prefer 1.75 mm filament.
