Well, I just had an interesting experience. My 2GB micro SD card just burned up in my RepRapDiscount Smart LCD Controller. Poof, smoke. Whaaa??

I thought it was the controller at first as it wouldn’t come on at all, but when I removed the controller the printer came on. I finally removed the card and reconnected the controller worked again. Tried the card again and it failed. Tried the card in my computer. The computer detects a card but then says it isn’t there. :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking very closely at the card shows a very small lesion on both the top and back sides of it. Glad I had nothing else of value on it. Interestingly, Windows had been complaining for some time that it wanted to format the card… :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone else seen that happen before?

Bad SSD. I would just replace it before it burns something up.

Samsung S7 SSD?

Sorry, I could not resist.

Lexar

Sure it wasn’t a Samsung Note 7?

Check your voltages while the printer is under load. There’s a small chance the PSU or other regulators are on their way out and the SD card was the first to break under the strain… Or it was a cheap/unlucky SD card.
