Well i suppose it could have been worse. This is the aftermath of a blob of PETG and my attempt to remove it. Unlike the first time this happened this blob took some wires with it. Im just gonna replace the whole thing. Thermistor, heat block, heater, heat break, and add a sock. I knew i should have bought spares months ago…
It’s potentially cleanable if you put some time into it. But yeah I’ve always used the socks on mine. (Just got the multi-material upgrade!)
I would clean it but i rather replace it in case anything other than the thermistor was damaged
A heat gun can help you soften the plastic and clean it up. I was lucky enough that the thermistor survived so I just heated it up to 200°C, clamping it with a pliers wrench and gently scraping off the plastic.
$65 total is replacement parts…
