Well... I'm guessing a bad motor...

Well… I’m guessing a bad motor… :frowning:

Does the motor even act like it is getting power? You might want to try (if you have not already done so) using a multi-meter to ensure you have the pairs properly connected?

@Bruce_Lunde HI BRUCE! The motor reacts to the commands, but it won’t spin, I’m trying to rule out a bad wiring, if this doesn’t work, for sure a bad motor… what’s weird is that I tested all the motors before installing and they all worked :frowning:

@javierymirna I used this page to validate mine: http://reprap.org/wiki/Stepper_wiring

@javierymirna That really does sound like crossed wires then. I would do the multimeter test…It seems like it hums when you issue commands in the video, so it is just not able to move due to crossed connections?

Stepper motors are easy to check if you have a pair. Just connect them, color, to color, lead wires. Then spin the shaft of one. The other motor shaft should spin in sympathy with the first. It is like magic!

I’m checking right now  I hope thats the case!! I’ll let u guys know in a bit, thanks for the help!

The other questions are: has this ever worked, or is it a new build, and does another motor put in the same place, work normally?

@Mike_Thornbury Mike this is a brand new built, because of the z axis problem, I haven’t been able todo the hello world test yet…

Ok! you guys were right!! it is a wiring problem!! I went motor straight into shield and motor spins normal…

Thanks for all of your help!!

I’m so embarrassed… It turns out I had one of the wires reversed on the gshield!!! Learning experience… u guys were right on!! Thanks u again!

Don’t be. I had one of the Y-Axis reversed, so my gantry tried to go two different directions on my first test! Glad you got it going, you’ll be cutting wood soon!

@Bruce_Lunde Hey Bruce! Sure will!! but since I had this issue I went ahead and ordered a new 23 steeper motor, and the rod upgrade, so I’ll be going at it early next week for sure

Just wanted to let u guys know that all this time, inevitable took care of me, they sent me a new gushers and they were getting ready to send me another motor today for FREE!! This guys really have great customer service… A+

Welcome to the club we’ve all been there hope you enjoy your CNC machine as much as I do mine

Cool. I’m glad you got that sorted.

@Grant_Macaulay Hey Grant! Motor issue solved  Thanks

@Timothy_Mike_McGuire Than Tim! I’m ready to start cutting wood!!
