Well, its been a while but finally moved into my new place and have my lab setup.

Needed a project and came across this guys build and followed suit. http://blog.deconinck.info/post/2016/12/19/A-Dirt-Cheap-F-Awesome-Led-Table

Took about a day or so to build so far. A lot of learning and think I can do it fast now that I found out what works and what doesnt. Still need to finalized the top of the table. The acrylic sheet I have looks great but is a bit brittle and hard to cut.

First one will be basic, but future ones will prob have usb charger built in at least, and a nice power and control bottons.

Im still working on a better way to solder strips together, faster.

Great looking table. Any tips? What was it that you found out didn’t work?

Getting the measurements for the cut out (and actually cutting it) I should of spent more time on. I think I got the measurement perfect, but I was a bit to eager cutting it and its flawed a bit due to the cheap table.

Also cutting the cardboard to make the grid. It worked pretty well, but i could of made the cuts better next time.

I also need a final solution for the top. I might have to go with a 1/4 in acrylic instead of the stuff I have now. Since i didnt cut my cardboard right, theres no room for it to fit within the table (as in the DIY) so it sits over the whole table. currently.

next I need to stuff the electronics and figure what to power it with.

I started my Ikea table over a year ago but i stalled when it came to the lid as i was due to be getting some help from a carpenter friend, but he’s been too busy

I would recommend porting FunkyClouds and FunkyNoise to run on your table
