wow, sorry to facepalm, but facepalm. First, its a really bad idea It will happen to not work for just about any reason (clock domains, hwmods, etc), but also scheduling jitter will destroy any consistent rate.
Second, there is probably a much better way of doing what it is he wanted to do. PRUs are mentioned quite a bit, but there is also PWM hardware that can do quite a wide variety of things with the GPIOs. And of course don’t forget the myriad of other IP blocks, like SPI, GPMC, etc.
Or, you know, if he’s playing with Quadrature Encoders, he could use the “Enhanced Quadrature Encoder Pulse (eQEP) Module”
