What advice would anyone have purchasing a portable 3-D scanner.

Be prepared to spend a lot of money for something that will create decent quality.

I use the structure sensor on my iPhone and love it. Its perfect for passable selfies and so easy to use. All scanners that are less than several thousand bucks often disappoint users w high expectations. So be sure to look at example prints and specs.

@Brook_Drumm I need to talk to you about the Printrbot Simple 2016 I got from you. I am having warping issues.

@Brook_Drumm I could use an IPad Air, so what would I need?

It’s gonna keep getting bumped, you’ll want auto bed levelling.

@funinthefalls small parts generally don’t warp. Bigger parts will need extra low first layer for excellent stick to blue tape. Then you will fight getting the darn thing off when it’s done. We sell a hybrid pla called “titan”, branded version of breathe3d’s pla++ that has less warping and acts more like abs in that it bends a little and isn’t so rigid. Light infill does help warping since less material means less to shrink. Heavy infill wants to warp more.

Btw, love the clock you traded w me for the printer! The whole family lives the pleasant chimes  thank you!

I have solved the warping issue by putting down a layer of buildtak, and then a light coat of hairspray…works like a charm!

Sweet! Good job!
