What clever hacks have you done to save a print?

Some quick thinking, double sided tape, packing foam and piece of sandpaper and I was able to save this corner over hang from disaster - all without pausing the print job might I add.

KISSLICER’s supports algorithm really annoys me some days. I happened to catch this corner of a custom phone case about to be screwed up because the supports never stuck - it would extrude them, but because it started wrong, they got carried over to the other corner and wiped off. As a result, there was no support being built in this corner. The foam supported sandpaper gave the overhang something to stick to and saved the print!

BTW, this was the print I mentioned earlier where the skirt and supports were trying to go negative X on me. Otherwise it turned out fine.

KISSlicer’s supports for me have been nothing short of amazing. What I’ve noticed KISS fail terribly at though, was bridging. It doesn’t detect them, so it just fills them in like a normal layer, normally failing.

What setting do you use? I’m using course, and have tried medium.

I have used scraps of brims or failed prints to do the same sort of stuff.

Ooh, cute. My print-saving has mostly been limited to sitting there pushing a pencil or a coffee-stirrer stick down on an errant corner that was lifting up, until the build got thick enough not to curl. (A lot less of this since I learned it was a good idea to round distant corners.)

I could get pretty damed good at editing g-code and kicking off a failed print with the delta. IGentUS doesn’t have any endstops, so I’m afraid it might be much harder to do (no way to re-establish X and Y)

Hot glue gun. Hmm… I think i have one of those around here.

Excellent use of materials, also could serve as a tip cleaner…

Reminds me of when I had a similar thing happen to me a couple of years ago. I managed to catch most of it in this video - http://youtu.be/0j5ae9LF-rE
