What do we do about the spam? Can we make it a closed group that you need approval to join before you can post? Any ideas? Can the spam be removed or blocked?

There is little you can do with the owner inactive since Dec 2016 and having no moderators setup.
The best you can do at this point is to report on user’s profile, and from there also mute. Eventually it all goes away again, but sadly does not help any newcomers, thus resulting in diminished quality content.

I report then block the user.

If that’s the case last I saw the only long term solution is to start a new community and have people move over to there.

Pic all the popular posters and get one to take control and add the rest as mods. Maybe do a poll on who to nominate.

If you just mute, and not report, then you don’t see it. The problem with the reporting side is that Google bans the user, and they just create a new one, and we start all over again.

I have been reporting the posts. The difficulty is that the offender keeps creating new accounts to post under ‘Linda Angeline’, ‘Cute Linda’, ‘Angle Linda’, etc.

I think if we keep doing it, either they’ll give up, or it’ll catch the ever watchful eye of Google.

OK let’s do the poll thing for a new owner I’m happy to put my name in the ring but I live in an odd time zone and work 12 hour days underground so no internet access till I get home. I’d definitely need some mods to help.

@Paul_Frederick haha! In this case I like spam {sp(iced h)am} too! Oh man, fried potatoes w/spam mixed sweet corn. Yum oh hey! Fry Two slices of spam w/ an over easy fried egg between toast… It’s good and it made less than 5min.
By the way, I hear Hawaiians like spam too.
