What do you all use to store your ABS slurry?

What do you all use to store your ABS slurry? An old salsa jar does not keep the acetone from evaporating for me. There are wash bottles that are labeled for everyone, but they’re not recommended for extended use.

I guess it has to be glass or metal, but is there a container that’s easy to use to apply the slurry?

I make mine as I go. I use a old nail polish container with the top cut off. could try a small Mason jar tho

I use something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00BRSASHY Acetone doesn’t react with it and the pump has a ball bearing to keep it sealed.

@Richard_Taylor it doesn’t clog from the slurry?

No it doesn’t @Bob_Rosania , but then I only use a small amount of abs in my slurry. I’ve used the little sampler whiskey bottles in the past - cheaper and can’t block :slight_smile:

I use chemical bottles from harbor freight. Its a couple bucks for 3. Keep the lid on it and it will keep for months

I use a baby food jar. Glass, metal lid…available cheap locally and easy to source.

How about to apply the slurry? I’ve been using paper towels, but that leaves something to be desired and creates a lot of waste. I’m thinking of trying a natural fiber paint brush. Those foam paint brushes would be nice and even, but probably melt in a second.

Acid etch brushes

I shake it up and squirt it on from the chem bottle when the bed is about 70°C. The acetone flashes of quickly and it leaves a nice film that bonds great and lasts for 10 prints or so

I use horse hair paint brushes. The small ones.

Nail polish bottles like these (you can find better prices): http://www.amazon.com/Clear-bottle-14-brush-cap/dp/B001N0IMCY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1388900501&sr=8-2&keywords=nail+polish+bottles

@Richard_Taylor
Thanks for the tip, I just ordered a couple of those. Though I used ebay because the amazon ones were shipping from outside the UK and the ebay ones were cheaper anyway :slight_smile:
