What do you guys do for a on/off switch for your wearables?

What do you guys do for a on/off switch for your wearables?

I’m trying to figure out what type of switch to buy and option of how to implement.

anyone have any recommendations?

would be for up to 4A. basicially control the power to the teensy and the leds.

wondering if this would work:

i could just go standard JST connector, but thats a pain to do everytime.

@Randal_B I prefer a slide switch over button switch. Some button switches turn on/off by pressing the button for 10%. Annoying for masks/headbands/wearables. “SPDT slide switch” is the one I’m using in my projects.

ive got a couple to try out, but trying to find a way to put it inline on the cable run rather then with the control box/teensy.

Hmm, Hall effect or reed sensor connected to a relay switch? Then a simple strategic placement of magnet to On/Off.

For 3A there is this one: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1400

If you build it for 4A the MosFet won’t get hot

@Matthijs_Neppelenbro +1 the slide switch. Or a 2-position dial-type switch with a “strong” click.

i haven’t come across a slide switch that can go in-line on the wire nicely. will play with some options this weekend.

@Giligain_I on relays make sure to use a fly back diode, TVS and cap-arrays. A coil induces transient voltages far higher than your battery supply.
@allanGEE also toggle switches have their surprizes https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/ac/Bouncy_Switch.png
General symptoms on both: when switching ON random LEDs will light up
