What do you guys think of putting your logo on a model to be sold on Shapeways? I actually have a character model who will sand on a base and I was thinking of putting it on the base since it’s a little flat and boring , just a rectangle with curved corners. So is it OK or tacky?
I guess it depends on the logo, how big it is, how well it blends into the design, and how distracting it is when it’s on the model.
@Stephen_Baird Here’s a quick VPR render.

Looks fine to me.
Thanks.
It seems to fit the model. I’d say it works well.
So after uploading to Shapeways I found that the base nearly doubles the price of the character alone. I may need to come up with a smaller base, maybe just surrounding her feet. Just enough so that she will stand without falling over.
There is newer software for that. However, I don’t remember its name or where to get it. (I know, what good am I?)
@Rojer_Wisner I saw a whitepaper from Siggraph on an app that would balance the character so it doesn’t need a base, but it tended to distort the model in odd ways sometimes plus I don’t know if it ever went beyond a whitepaper
Ah, you may be right. For some reason I was under the impression that it was already out. Oh well, maybe this time next year. Good luck.
@Phil Nolan, You are correct. Make It Stand - is not out yet.
@Rojer_Wisner Ah thanks, I didn’t know the name of it.
