What do you use to hide your electronics. I have a cobblebot basic (heavily modified) and was thinking of using a mini itx cpu case. But am open to other suggestions as well.
The case I had ordered turned out to be too big and am returning it.

I’ve finally extended all the wires so that all the electronics are at the bottom of the printer. Now for the enclosure - looked through thingiverse for something that could hide all the electronics:
- Arduino and RAMPS
- The Nextthing CHIP running octoprint
- Homemade powered hub
- Power supply (optional)
Was running through the promo sections of my emails today and came across an email from woot (seems they have a deal on computer cases today) - and thought why not. Have narrowed down to the following:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Genuine-Dell-Optiplex-580-SFF-Small-Form-Factor-Empty-Chassis-Case-Shell-/121740461821?hash=item1c584c06fd:g:H1wAAOxyOM5RcBMJ
This should fit at the bottom of my printer and since I have a moving bed, this will not reduce my Z axis height.
Any pitfalls I need to worry about / any other suggestions?
Why not print something custom? Mini-ITX cases are quite expensive while filament is (comparatively) cheaper.
I have one of those. Want to deal with me instead?
@Mark_Rehorst that’s an amazing instructable. @Neil_Darlow that was the route I was planning on before, however printing flat plates and boxes didn’t seem like the best possible use of filament. I might just get it custom laser cut. My printer lives in my living room and the wife doesn’t like the untidy wiring at the bottom. So looking for an easy and nice looking solution.
@Dushyant_Ahuja Anything that is useful is a good use for filament. The advantage of printing vs. constructing is that you can design-in all of the features like holes, fixing points etc. and make it look like whatever you wish.
Geeetech has a little lunch box style cabinet that sits next to the printer, houses the controller, PSU and display/SD. Ive got one drawn ready to cut but I haven’t made it yet. http://www.geeetech.com/3in1-3d-printer-control-box-p-988.html It’s $150 just for the case but if you have access to a laser cutter you could make one out of wood, melamine or acrylic.
