What I’d causing these lines to be so far off from their assigned path? What can I do to fix this? (The lines should be touching each other) (Ultimaker 3D printer)
Which printer is this?
The Ultimaker
With the motors off, does the head move easily around the print area?
Looks like a mechanical breakdown some where, so you will need to check pulleys and belts are fixed properly. You’ll need to loosen the belts to inspect the pulleys and reset them.
Test the motion on each axis without the belts to check for snagging.
Things do come loose over time and regular checks is a good thing.
I just built it last week
And this is the first time I’ve tried to print from it since I built it.
here is the print head moving with motors off https://plus.google.com/109145974315464631528/posts/fXsoqwnjpzc
It should move around very smoothly. If it feels forced, try oiling the rods. Make sure all belts are tight, but not too tight. Test all grub nuts that the pulleys are not slipping. Is the bed leveled ?
If you hotend is digging into the print it will cause the steppers to skip.
Did the Ultimaker not come with a pre-flight check list to get you started.
Jog the offending axis across the build area using the software and listen out for strange sounds. Test if the axis can travel the exact same distance repeatedly across the build area.
It is unlikely that you can properly test for smooth motion with the belts or stepper motors fitted.
the bed is leveled, no pulleys are slipping and they are all tight. i am however having a hard time getting the belt tensioning mechanism to work correctly, the belts might not be tight enough.
i lied, i didn’t check all the pulleys, think i might have found the culprit!
found it!! you guys are the best!
we have conformation that it is all fixed
Conformation would be true with evidence of a finished quality 3d print
