In title it says hologram  It looks really cool :stuck_out_tongue:

Epic 3.o at madesan square graden in new york. 4k hologram … Lmg with Ai media server . This media server is very cool, i used it in many projects where you need extreme mapping capability …

Maybe I am not up to date - we have already functioning holoprojectors outside Star Trek?!

Yes, but they are expensive

How does it work? Any link?

for me, it looks like therese a see-through surface this is projected on. You can see a black bar marking the lower end of it.

So no holograms yet. Just a high resolution back projection on gauze in front of the dj?

If it would be a real flying hologram in that size I would expect the crowd to completely freak out…

its looks like 3d but is a hologram , you can 't see the transparent gauze . the “peppersgohst” is floating in the air above the dj . if you project from “x” sides you created a full 3d illusion . With ai i did similar 3d on 250 led poles at the sotchi winter Olympics . There we had a real 3d surfaces as the led poles where 12 m long. each poles had 8 strips 640 each … It looks all simple but a lot more complex if you want to put those 3d animation in real time Have a look at http://www.avolitesmedia.com/?ozy_portfolio=epic-featuring-eric-prydz#.

Nice, very impressive effects!

If this is the effect he’s talking about (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper’s_ghost), it’s really just projected onto a glass or film screen

Apparently my idea of a hologram is a little different… This is just a transparent projection, a true hologram in my mind would have no substrate surface and allow you to pass through it

Yes Kevin, I have the same understanding of the meaning of the term “hologram”.
But anyway, these projection trick is cool, too!

a trick is the best illusion to created what you want …

And I would not limit it to “allow to pass through”. Imagine something like that with a transparent matrix rotating: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9_tPyo3mwoI It would be at least a (low-res) volumetric "holo"display within a cylinder…

Reminds me of how christmas tree garland is made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei4ri3gw2o4. Go to about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvVO_wmH6-M&t=1m40s-ish.

Yes now that’s what I’m talking about. 360deg mapped screen
Seems like Stefan and I have higher standards than

Well, I would not judge it. Lets say we stick to the literal meaning of the word. At the other hand we are talking about something that is science fiction yet or only exist as miniature version in laboratorys. Compared to that the projections like @hans_cromheecke does them are the real thing for now, the lage scale real thing and that deserves my respect. What we saw in the video did the job for me, I really had the impression that I saw something that exists in the 3D space - no matter if it is a trick and illusion or not.
