What is the optimal distance between rods (in each pair) of a Delta printer? I see most designs use about 30mm. Is this a function of the printer size ? What would happen if I would go up to 50 or 60mm ?
Thanks!

Oh, and would there be any negative side effects as well ?
Mostly I believe this would just cause you to have a larger end effector. 30mm just seems to have been a “standard” passed down from the original rostock.
The larger the distance, the more stable the platform will be (resistance against tilting). 30mm seems ample, but i assume a smaller distance might become a problem if your hotend sticks out far below the rod’s ballheads.
I actually wanted a larger distance, because I’m doing a 3 ball approach I need more space to fit the hotend and fans.
Wait, three balls?
Ok, got it.
I see no problem at all with increasing the rod distance like that - just keep in mind that the distance will need to increase on the carriages as well.
@Mic_Possert I have heard this many times, scary stuff.
