What is the white deposits that come off printing PETG? … Mostly on the heatsink of my hotend… but also see it on the acric door.

If it isn’t white filament, it might be bad filament that has absorbed some water that is breaking down the extruded filament when heated. Is it a new roll? I am thinking about trying to dry a roll I have had open for a while.

Hard to say it slowly deposits over time… so you don’t see it happening. could be a older roll

Could a few people put a small length of PETG filament in a rotary tool and try friction welding? I tried friction welding PETG and it flaked off like sand. I do not know if that is normal or if it was a humidity issue. Perhaps if Daniel’s PETG behaves different than others’ PETG does during friction welding thrn it may point to the problem. Like maybe it was moisture related or something? Maybe such a test can turn out to be an odd but good diagnostic technique.

What PETG printing temperature was normal, what temperature was used and what exact PETG brand and product was used?
