What to buy:
Hello I’m looking to buy a CNC router. I don’t want to do extreme things mostly milling wood I might try to mill wax and maybe aluminum in the far future. I’ve heard a lot of positive feedback about the shapeoko. And the cost seems to be reasonable It this really the ideal machine for a beginner. If not what is.
You should checkout openbuilds. Their’s is along the same line of thinking, but a better design. unfortunately, like most kickstarter company’s, they’re out of stock of most everything.
Whatever you get, make sure lots of people have them. You don’t want to be a beta tester. You want something that when you have problems, other people already know how to fix them.
I’m doing a openbuildox myself and one of my friends is too. If u need some insight let me know
It depends how big you want and your budget
@cncrouterparts or @FineLineAutomationTV has some great kits
Thanks everybody. Your advice and suggestions are really appreciated. @ Glen West: what is the model you intent to build and what do you expect the cost it. I like the idea of following your build’ but I have to keep a budget in mind too.
Some of the people told me to start with a drawer slide model due to the little cost. On this way i would gain experience that I can then implement in a later more powerfull model. Is this a proper way to go. I’m not looking to go big in size( i have a small basement)
Last thing what is a good bo to learn about tooling paths, from cad to final product.
Sorry I meant to say book and not bo. Little screen issue:-)
@Glenn_West could you tell me how much you expect to spend?
