What type of connectors are you guys using to connect all the accessories around the extruder (e.g. Fans, probes,…)

I want to be able to easily swap extruders and add-ons.

Thanks

I currently run molex locking but I really like the single ATX style connectors where you can have all your connections in one connector so you can easily swap out hotends/extruders

15pin DSUB is a cheap and easy to get connector. The heater cartridge uses 2+2 pin because the Ampere. 15pins is enought to have

  • 2 fans (4 pin)
  • Stepper motor (4 pins)
  • thermistor (2pins)
  • Heater (4 pins)
    +-----------
    14 pins

If you want to have a Z-probe like BLTouch you will have to use common GND.
That reduces the pinusage for each function

  • 2 fans (2 pin + common GND)
    " Stepper motor (4 pins)
    " thermistor (1 pin + common GND)
  • Heater ( 2 pins +Common GND)
  • BLTouch (4pins + Common GND)
  • COMMON GND (2 pins because AMPERE)
    +--------------------
    15 pins

If you dont like the idea of common GND then 25-pin DSUB is another solution

15 pin DSUB is the common VGA connector:

@Johnny_Linden I think most controller boards use low-side switching so common ground is not a good idea…

@TomvdZ I copied the RigidBot connector to 15-pin DSUB. I belived it was common GND

Molex microfit 3.0 for all. Up to 5amp and also compact

Some more love for the molex microfit.

That’s the stuff I was looking for. Thanks.

JST connectors come in 2, and 4 pin setup, do not require special crimpers and are as cheap as dirt on aliexpress
