What's peoples' experience with Simplify3D?

This seems to be turning into a bit of a shitfest - lets keep it civil, aye?
@AlohaMilton  got a link somewhere?

As we’re still talking about slicers (and which are better, in a way), i strongly believe it comes down to good profiles for your specific printer. If you have a commercial machine, it’s up to the manufacturer to provide those. If you have a sub-par profile for S3D or don’t want to tune one in yourself, you’re likely not going to get better prints than with any of the other slicers. Prusa supplies a custom version of Slic3r, which is awesome. Lulzbot have their own version of Cura, which works great for their machines. True, Cura 2 had been lagging behind feature-wise during the transition from Cura 15x, but i think it’s headed in the right direction at this point and is already an insanely powerful slicer under the hood.

@ThantiK I am well aware of that, the fact is I was and still am new, and simply posted my experience upon trying to use Cura with a delta I had just made. TS reprimanded me, I spent another 2 hours trying to find the round bed and delta settings thinking I was dumb, then realized no it does not support delta and I had been made to feel badly then waste my time because of who knows why. I suspect investor demanding no outside printer support, no proof just something that capital investment does to muck up operations at companies sometimes, demand they emulate someone else’s business plan mid stride through doing their own thing. That is just speculation, what I do know is they told me I was wrong, made me question my ability to understand the Cura interface, struggle with it longer, then realize it was some social media disinformation BS. Whatever. There was no call for that to happen, no need. Now they hijack a thread on S3D when anyone mentions real experiences with their product, not fair at all not sure why its allowed. People use it, people have experiences to share, they think they can shout down every honest opinion online that is just more ‘WTF?’ behaviour. I REALLY like S3D now, they just make the software and try to improve it not harass people online.

I’m just curious about this video now. And what it did to @AlohaMilton

(And I had no intention of hijacking, I simply asked Adam a question, as he mentioned liking S3D over Cura. Something we hear a lot these days. And we like to know for what reasons. Sorry I took this further then planned initially)

Wait, this thread? https://plus.google.com/101552190891322750505/posts/BFrWAMaUwvE

You all brought this up in a thread about S3D, I am not going to play party to this hijack, talk to you hopefully under more friendly conditions in another thread, I am not going to comment further my experiences and opinions on Cura are not appropriate to this post it was about S3D.

Let’s all blame @Adam_Steinmark as it was him who mentioned Cura first. What a sly old devil!

@Daid_Braam How can we help for you to add delta support?

We have new customers emailing us asking what the heck our instructions are talking about, when there’s no delta support in the latest Cura. Granted, some of our customers don’t bother reading the instructions fully… because we provide a download link to the older Cura and they instead go and google Cura and download the 2.X from your website.

So you can see where our frustration comes from (not the advertising per say), but the fact that our company, Deltaprintr, is sorta stuck in this black hole where we’re using software that god forbid will have a problem at some point if an update is released for mac or windows that causes it to stop working. And if that were to happen, where all of a sudden the old Cura stopped functioning, we would get a flurry of emails from customers asking what’s going on. At that point, we would be pressed to find a new host/slicer.

So, to avoid having that scenario (just one of the many I can think of). We’re looking for new software that supports Deltas NOW, that we can depend on in order to continue selling our printers.

So again, how can I can help? If there’s any way, please let me know. Otherwise, I hate to say it, but we’ll be jumping ship. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate all you do, it’s just reality.

@AlohaMilton we’re all friends here – and when I say that, I’m including you. Don’t feel like you’re being attacked, you’re not, I promise.

(ducking for cover) I have used S3D for awhile and I like it. Even though I could not get my printer to even start a print of a Fusion 360 STL the other day.

I was tempted to write a big post to defend all the accusations made here, but I will refrain from doing it, as it won’t fix anything.
Cura 2.4 will have delta support, because people built it. I will ensure (in my own time that is ;)) that the Definiton provided by Shai is in that release.
So, take a big deep breath everyone. It’s going to be okay.
