When I say to people my printer printed itself I doubt 99% of people would understand. My printer big printer today is a very different animal to what it was when I built it. Originally not having a 3d printer meant that it was built from wood and aluminium and as quality improved I printed replacement parts that allowed better prints and that cycle continues. These are a few evolutionary pics. I included one of my methods for increased strength in parts. That part was actuality the one that increased accuracy to allow the replacement gantry to be printed. It started as a hollow the shaped box. I glued in the bolt with superglue and then filled it with hot glue. Hot glue does make the pla pliable till it sets and the print is pretty much a mould for the glue. Epoxy would be stronger but may take a little longer to set. The part was really strong and it’s a easy way to make tough parts.
That cool
Repstrap.
