Where in the world do you source the melamine laminate sheet that places like SeemeCNC use? I’ve got access to a 24x36" laser cutter, and would really like to make some Prusa i3/Graber frames for people locally. Anyone have any idea? The stuff I’m looking for (according to SeemeCNC) should be about 0.27" thick, but I’m having trouble finding anything.

http://www.wilsonartcontract.com/portfolio/tfm/ (and other TFM suppliers)

I don’t see anywhere on that site to order melamine laminate sheets of any kind of thickness, they simply point me to people who will laminate wood for me…same goes for most sites I’ve run across.

@ThantiK Where are you located? Menards is a hardware lumberyard store around the Midwest, they carry the white melamine in stock, and can special order black and some other colors.

Are you looking for plastic sandwiches, instead of melamine TFM? Perhaps I misunderstood.

Ok, so going back to the SeemeCNC and poking around, it does look like MDF or HDF laminate with melamine. If you want the good stuff, you will probably have to special order it, as the stuff at HomeDepot/OSH are really cheap particle board which breaks apart too easily. Maybe look at the list of Flakeboard’s distributors? (http://www.flakeboard.com/locator.asp)

Thanks for the suggestion @J_O11 , and your help as well @Joseph_Chiu ; I’ll keep looking around.

@ThantiK if you just want a few sheets, I could prob send you some. We generate a lot of oddball sized sheets, more than we can use.

@J_O11 thanks for offer. Honestly, it’s for a business venture so I’ve gotta find where to source it from. Not a “omg lets make money!” business venture, but more of a “nobody sells a good, COMPLETE i3 kit except for MakerFarm” venture. I want a place where people can get a quality, open source (files accessable!) full i3 kit from a single source. Will probably be as close to at-cost as we can make it. When I suggest to people that they build an i3, they often complain that there’s nowhere to buy a quality i3 kit.

Good call. Well, I know Dakota panel will sell bulk @ThantiK

Thanks a ton for your help @J_O11 , much appreciated.

No prob. Also to note. They’re the only ones that manufacture 1/4" (.270") melamine laminate with an mdf core. 1/8" is hardboard, which doesn’t lasercut worth a crap, and 3/8" and up are particle board, which sucks all around.
