Where is everyone mounting their controls on the OX kit? I’ve been reading that some people are mounting them on the gantry?? I was thinking that I would put them separately from the machine itself. What are others doing?
Mounted mine on gantry. Depends somewhat on wat control board u are using I suppose. I use a cnc xpro 2 currently.
I currently have my TinyG and speed controller on the back side of the X-axis. However, I’ve had a couple of jobs die on me from a disconnection that I’m starting to suspect was caused by EMF noise from the spindle being so close (my USB cable is a pretty good shielded one).
I bought extra wiring and ran them to a board mounted on the side, planning to move it again though. If you use dust extraction, the X axis is fine
I had my gsheild on the x axis, but as my spindle is quite noisy(emf) Evey time I switched on the motor the mill would stop moving, had to take it off and put it in a shielded box. Now it all works fine
@Ryan_Lovejoy Thanks, that seems to confirm my hypothesis.
Wish I had wired it with the box to start with but lesion learnt. If you do consider this plan ahead for upgrades like contact sensors
