Where is your fire extinguisher?
On the wall next to the entry door, and another in the kitchen.
What was the source?
@Shachar_Weis , no fire here, I was just doing a safety check and thought it wouldn’t hurt to make it a public thing.
My extinguisher is at the store. Thank you for the reminder. Amazon here I come.
@Matt_Kraemer Lol, I was sure that some parts of that mess were caused by fire. Where is your broom ?
+1 RoMax! Woooooo!
Your LCD panel is missing though
@Nathan_Ryan hey Nathan, if you knew the back story on that rostock max frame you wouldn’t be woooooing. Every piece has been replaced. Rambo fried first month. Power supply fried first month. " Steve’s extruder" was an 8 month nightmare because it couldn’t print a wades. Hot end replaced in month 4 of unsuccessful prints. Laser cut parts weren’t square and needed hours of sanding. Belts all replaced 2 months after first good prints. Onyx bed warped .2 when heated so I made my own. No torsional stability, so it has to be run with 5mm/sec.sec max jerk.The “roMax” was the motivation for me to fully design my own delta.
Now that that has been gutted its a reliable machine for low tolerance PLA parts.
Everything else I do on the madrobot.
@Shachar_Weis , fair point.
I need to sweep. Especially since I let my toddler play in there while I work…
I got 2, one at home and one on table next to laser cutter. Once when I was 15 I ‘had’ to use one to have fun in a big field, creates a huge cloud of white smoke hahaha, got in real trouble for that.
I was thinking about buying a smoke detector. But a fire extinguisher would be handy as well.
@Frank_Opmeer smoke detectors are not optional. Short circuits can light fires without blowing fuses.
As @Matt_Kraemer points out, getting an extinguisher and a smoke detector isn’t an either-or question. You should have both, but in case of doubt, get a smoke detector before you even think about getting an extinguisher. If you don’t know stuff’s on fire, you can’t extinguish anything.
@John_Ridley A rechargeable fire extinguisher is a good idea for other reasons too. Rumours have spread that some fire extinguishers are fake and that manufacturers figured they wouldn’t get caught.
Testing the extinguisher is probably a very good idea.
